My SillyTavern cards are the soul of a character — the voice, the history, the way they'll answer you. This page is how you give that soul a body to speak through.
What a card actually is
A character card on its own is a small file. It doesn't do anything by itself — the same way sheet music isn't a song until someone plays it. To hear my characters speak, three pieces have to come together. The good news: you set them up once, and after that it's a single click to begin.
A free, open-source app that runs on your own computer. It's the room where the conversation happens. It doesn't think on its own — it's the interface, not the mind.
The actual intelligence that generates replies. SillyTavern connects to one; it doesn't contain one. There's a free option below that needs no credit card.
This is the part you download from me. The personality, the world, the story. You drop it into SillyTavern and the character wakes up.
Two ways to build the stage
Both install SillyTavern without you ever typing a command. Pick whichever feels friendlier — they end in the same place. Setting up the first time takes roughly half an hour, mostly waiting for downloads.
A little app that installs other AI apps with one click. This is the route I use myself. It handles everything behind the scenes.
SillyTavern's own guided installer. It sets up the pieces it needs and gives you a menu to start and update. Straight from the source.
The free mind: once SillyTavern is open, it asks what model to connect. The simplest no-cost choice is AI Horde — a community pool of volunteered computers. No account, no card, no payment. It's slower and busier than paid options, but it's how I built and tested my own cards, and it's more than enough to meet the characters. You can always connect something faster later.
A fair word before you start: this is real software on your own machine, not a website you just open — the routes above run installer scripts for you, which is what makes the one-click magic possible and also what means you should only run tools you trust. Both are widely used and open-source. If it doesn't click into place on the first try, that's normal; the SillyTavern docs ↗ and its Discord are patient with newcomers. And if you get stuck, write to me — I'd rather help you in than have you give up at the door.
Then the card
Once SillyTavern is running and a model is connected, the last step is the easy one: download any card from me, import it, and start. That's the moment the file becomes a person.
